PUTRAJAYA, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- An investigation by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) revealed disciplinary offences in the handling of drug cases involving a former unit chief at the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in Sik, Kedah.

In a statement today, EAIC said that the former head is said to have protected individuals confirmed to be positive for drugs and failed to update the record book for the delivery of urine samples of Persons Under Investigation (OYDS).

“A full investigation has been conducted into the complaint regarding the case, in accordance with subsection 27(4) of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009 (Act 700),” said the commission.

The disciplinary offences included failing to handle the results of the OYDS urine screening, which tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, resulting in a delay of nearly a year and six months in submitting the results to the OYDS employer.

According to EAIC, the former unit head also failed to ensure that the record book for the delivery of OYDS urine samples was in order throughout his tenure at the Sik AADK, while two anti-drug assistants in the same office tasked with delivering and collecting these samples did not update the record book appropriately.

Therefore, EAIC, in a meeting on Sept 10, 2024, recommended several penalties to be imposed on the former unit head, including a six-month salary suspension for negligence and irresponsibility that hindered fair action from being taken against the OYDS by his employer.

The commission also recommended that the individual receive a warning for failing to keep the record book in order.

Similar warnings were recommended for the two assistants due to their failure to update the record book properly, it said.

“The matter has been referred to the AADK disciplinary authority for further action,” EAIC said.
