JOHOR BARU: The police have detained a 28-year old policeman at the Seri Alam police headquarters on Saturday over racist statements allegedly posted by him on Facebook two days ago.
Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the suspect is believed to have owned and used a Facebook account by the name of Rozaini Rosdi.
He said the racist statements posted on social media could cause disruption to public order and jeopardise racial harmony.
"(We) also seized a mobile phone which was used by the suspect to upload the racist remarks via Facebook," he said in a statement here today.
The suspect, attached to the Desa Cemerlang police station is being investigated under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. - Bernama
