IPOH, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Enforcement Officers Union is disappointed at the accusation hurled by certain quarters, purportedly that its enforcement officers were being bribed to protect errant traders at the Low Yat Plaza in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Its president Rus Bakarurraini Shahfie said the accusation in the social sites were unjust to the enforcement officers as it tarnished their image and that of KPDNKK.

"The officers have performed their duties to the best of their ability and fairly. Such accusations not only damage the good name of the enforcement officers but also that of the ministry," he told reporters here, Monday.

In this regard, KPDNKK would lodge a police report in a week if the quarters concerned did not furnish evidence of their claim.

"Instead of making wild allegations, they should provide proof that our officers accepted bribes," he said adding that the KPDNKK would not hesitate to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission or the KPDNKK integrity division if any of its officers had deviated.

"We do not rule out there are personnel who abused their power and (other forms of indiscipline) and action have been taken against some but we will not condone culprits who accepted bribes," he added.
