Ninth suspect in Bill Kayongs murder arrested

PETALING JAYA: Another individual has been arrested in connection with the murder of PKR politician Bill Kayong, making him the ninth suspect currently in police custody.

According to Borneo Post Online, the 27-year-old male suspect was picked up around 6pm yesterday at a restaurant in Jalan Bendahara, Miri, by the task force probing Bill’s murder.

The report quoted state CID chief SAC Dev Kumar as saying that the suspect would be produced in the Miri Magistrate’s Court today for remand.

“He is the ninth suspect arrested so far. Eight suspects are currently under custody, including the latest suspect,” said Dev Kumar.

He also revealed that the police expect to submit their findings to the deputy public prosecutor this week.

On June 21, Kayong, who contested in Bekenu for PKR in the recent Sarawak elections, was shot dead near the Emart One-Stop shopping mall in Senadin, Miri.

The 43-year-old was an advocate of social issues in the state, especially on native customary rights, which he talked of at length in his election campaigns.
