ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the National Integrity Plan should be used as the benchmark for the government’s transformation agenda.
He pointed out that integrity was also a critical element in the state’s transformation agenda.
Mukhriz said his administration would continue to champion issues concerning the practice of integrity among civil servants.
He said integrity would ensure the effectiveness of the government’s delivery system, in line with the 1Malaysia slogan, Peoples First, Performance Now motto, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He cautioned that any dishonest acts involving civil servants would compromise the government’s goodwill in helping the people and may lead to failure in the implementation of policies.
“I believe everyone must uphold the principle of integrity and it should be practised by every individual in our society,†he said after launching the state-level Integrity Practice Campaign 2014 at Dewan Wawasan in Jitra recently.
The event was jointly organised by the state government, state Management and Integrity Institute (Inspin), the State Secretary’s office, Kubang Pasu district office and Malaysian Integrity Institute (IIM).
Present were state executive councillors, Kedah members of parliament and assemblymen, Inspin general manager Dzohir Md Zain, Kubang Pasu District Officer Zahari Ismail and IIM president Datuk Dr Mohd Tap Salleh.
Mukhriz added that integrity should also be used as the benchmark for the country’s transformation.
“It is a pity if we failed to embed positive elements that promote the value of integrity,†he said.
He also mentioned the core values of the Kedah Integrity Action Plan namely, honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, wisdom, equality, transparency and gratitude. By Adie Suri Zulkefli
