PUTRAJAYA, May 15 — The Immigration Department is expecting delays in passport issuance in several of its offices due to the process of converting to passports with new safety features in stages.

According to Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Sakib Kusmi, the move involves all passport-issuing offices throughout the country, causing some to be temporarily closed.

“Some technical changes to the system will be made. Any inconvenience is regretted,” he said in a statement here today.
