KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman attached to the Bukit Aman CID was detained for allegedly firing five shots at his friend, one of which hit the latter at the back of his leg.

The policeman was having drinks with two friends at a restaurant in Taman Sri Rampai in the wee hours on Tuesday when an argument broke out.

It is learnt that the policeman, in his 30s, then fired five shots from his sidearm and one of the shots hit one of his friends.

City police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh the policeman and the friend have been detained.

“We will investigate further whether any of those involved in the incident were intoxicated,” he said.

He added that case was classified under Section 39 of the Arms Act for discharging firearms in a public area.
