According to research by Center For A Better Tomorrow (Cenbet), over half of Malaysians don’t believe the police is trustworthy.
A pool of 1000 Malaysians scored police trustworthiness out of five, with 55% giving scores of three and below.
“When (police) abuse of power is left unchecked, the public will lose confidence in the rule of law - they will feel like there’s a lack of safety, and that could end up with us being a failed state,†said ASLI Centre for Public Policy Studies chairman Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam.
