PETALING JAYA: The workshop organised by the Trans port Ministry on car tint will encompass all aspects, including current laws, enforcement, safety and security as well as international standards. Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the two - day workshop, which will be held from June 2 at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, would be conducted in five sessions. In a statement here yesterday, Hishammuddin said that among the topics would be the review of current regulations on window tint based on international stan dards, including the UN Vehicle Regulation R43 (Safety Glassing). “The workshop will ensure that information on the usage of window tint will be channelled to vehicle owners. “After gaining all the relevant feedback, we hope to come up with constructive proposals for the amendment of the current laws on tint,†he said. Hishammuddin, who is also Defence Minister, said that he had received public views and opinions regarding window tint via social media. “Most people are of the opinion that current laws a re outdated. “We are in the midst of reviewing the laws and planning to amend them after the workshop,†he added. He said proposals from the workshop would be reviewed and recommendations for amendments would be presented to the Cabinet for approval. “T he police have agreed to comply with any amendment resulting from the workshop and subsequent Cabinet approval,†he added. The first session will be chaired by the Road Transport Department while the subsequent ones will be led by, among others, the Malay sian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) and police.
