PUTRAJAYA: The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) will hold an inquiry following the death of a detainee, N. Dharmendran in a police lockup.
EAIC chief executive officer Kamal Baharin Omar said the inquiry is opened to the public and media and would be held from July 27 to August 21 this year at the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) building.
“The inquiry is a follow-up from the initial investigation of the EAIC taskforce formed two years ago to detect on any misconduct on the case involving the death of N Dharmendran while in police custody,†he said in a statement here today.
Kamal Baharin said the inquiry will be held in accordance to Section 35 of the EAIC Act 2009 (Act 700).
The taskforce formed on May 28, 2013 is being assisted by three consultants appointed by EAIC based on their respective fields, he said.
On May 21, 2013, Dharmendran was confirmed dead in the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters.
