KUALA PILAH, June 15 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (MDTCC) has launched a special operation, codenamed "Ops Titik" to further intensify efforts to curb abuse of subsidised diesel nationwide. "The ministry has taken various measures to curb abuse of subsidised diesel, with the latest move, the cancelling of licences for bunkering and wholesale of petrol and diesel at private jetties. "Not only that, we are improving existing provisions in the law, like the Control of Supplies Act, which is being amended to provide for a stuffer penalty on errant traders," he added. He told this to reporters after opening the Negeri Sembilan branch of the Association of Retired Officers in the Malaysian Education Service here Sunday. Hasan said since Ops Titik was launched, it had recorded 151 cases, involving seizure worth RM8.057 million. Yesterday alone, he said there were two cases reported in Selangor, involving seizure worth RM116,006, adding that eight cases were reported the previous day (Friday).
