KUALA LUMPUR: Dr Anis Yusal Yusoff has been appointed as president of the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (MII), effective June 1, 2015, taking over from the former president, Datuk Dr Mohd Tap Salleh, who retired officially on Dec 1, 2014.
Prior to this appointment, Dr Anis Yusal was Principal Fellow at the Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), said MII in a statement, here, today.
He was the project leader and person responsible for developing KITA-MESRA, a monitoring system on ethnic relations in Malaysia which acts as an early warning system to manage potential tension and conflict in the community.
Before joining KITA, Dr Anis Yusal served as the founding director of the Political Sector of MII from 2005-2008. He has also served for over 10 years with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as assistant resident representative in Malaysia and as programme specialist for UNV in Bonn, Germany.
He has served on a number of national advisory councils in recent years. He was a member of the Advisory Panel for the Consultation and Prevention of Corruption under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, and a panel member of the National Advisory Consumer Council and the National Unity and Integration Training Institute.
He is also a member of the Razak School of Government Academic Working Group, and appointed as commissioner to the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC).
Dr Anis Yusal has authored and edited a number of books, including Combating Corruption: Understanding Anti-Corruption Initiatives in Malaysia; Human Development Report 2013: Collection of Background Essays from UKM; Political Integrity in Malaysia: Towards a Better Understanding; and Producing Seeds of Integrity: From Roots to Fruits. – BERNAMA
