IPOH: A 34-year-old civil servant claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to dishonestly misappropriating over RM11,000 belonging to the state Public Works Department.
Noor Faezah Mohd (pic), who is currently attached to the Taiping Hospital, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday before Judge S. Indera Nehru to three separate charges brought against her by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Noor Faezah, who was the assistant accountant with the department at the time of the incident, is alleged to have fraudulently misused petty cash by approving payment vouchers to a company by the name of Sricomp Solutions without the knowledge of her department head.
In the first charge, she is alleged to have approved RM3,240 into the company's account on June 26, 2015, followed by RM3,868 into the same account on June 30, 2015 and by RM4,000 on July 8, 2015.
The offences under Section 403 of the Penal Code carry a jail term of not more than five years, whipping and a fine.
The court set bail at RM20,000 for all three charges with one surety, and fixed Oct 23 for the next mention date.
